I appreciate your vision here as I've been uncomfortable with calls in some circles for a withdrawal of Canadian troops. While non-violence is an important pillar of the Green Party, is should not be viewed as synonymous with an exodus of Canadian troops from Afghanistan. As stated in Green Party policy there needs to be a shift towards reconstruction efforts, harnessing the funds of opium production and training of the Afghanistan police force. These goals will be helped with a continued presence of NATO forces to provide security and stability. In order for Afghanistan to be sustainable it must have secure infrastructure, we cannot leave while political control is still in question. Indeed, a vast majority of population in Afghanistan supports a foreign military presence in Afghanistan.
